B-complex vitamins actively participate in the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and lipids. Due to the fact that these vitamins are not stored in the body to a great extent or for prolonged periods, decreased food intake and/or absorption will also decrease the level of these vitamins in the body. During disease and altered metabolic function, vitamin deposits may be depleted even more rapidly. Vitamin A is essential for normal metabolism of epithelial cells in the skin and mucosa, normal vision and normal reproductive function. Dietary requirements of vitamin A are increased during growth in young animals and in pregnant and lactating animals. Vitamin D3 stimulates calcium absorption from the gastrointestinal tract and promotes deposition of calcium and phosphorus in the bones. Dietary requirements of vitamin D3 are increased during the last 2 – 3 months of pregnancy in domestic animals. Vitamin E acts as physiological anti-oxidant by preventing lipid peroxidation of unsaturated fatty acids in cell membranes and reducing the incidence of free radicals. Digestive tract infections decrease the absorption of fat soluble vitamins. Methionine,Arginine and lysine are essential amino acids. Methionine with its lipotropic potency assists in oxidation of lipids and prevents accumulation of fat in the hepatocytes. It also detoxifies the liver and protects the liver. Lysine and Arginine are essential for hormones metabolism , growth and maintenance of bones and normal function of immune system. Glycine is a non essential amino acid that keeps the normal function of digestive tract and central nervous system. It helps cure the hypoglycemia and anemia.
