Product properties

Composition

Each ml contains 300 mg Tilmicosin.

Mechanism of Action:

Tilmicosin is an antibiotic from macrolides group that prevents growth and protein synthesis of bacteria by attachment to ribosomal 50s subunit.

1 hour after injection about 10 mg/kg, maximum concentration in  the cow’s blood serum is acquired and the drug can be detected in serum up to 3 days. Nevertheless drug concentration in lung will remain and above 95% of minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of Mannheimia hemolytica at least for 3 days. During 21 days after injection 24% of drug is excreted via urine and 68% via faeces.

Indications of use

– Treatment of respiratory diseases caused by Mannheimia hemolytica and pasteurella multocida

– Treatment of ovine pneumonia caused by pasteurella species

– Ovine acute mastitis caused by staphylococcus or mycoplasma

– Chlamydial abortion

– Foot rot resulted from Fusobacterium necrophorum

Dosage and route of administration

Cattle and sheep: 10 mg/kg Tilmicosin (1ml per 30 kg body weight) only via SC injection. Injection must be done in the  shoulder in ribs area. Injection can be done in two different point.

Withdrawal Time

28 days before slaughter. It is forbidden to use this drug in dairy cows, while producing milk for human consumption.

Precautions

Do not inject this drug in soliped animals. Avoid injecting through IV route emphatically.

Do not inject this drug in calves less than 1 month  old or suckling calves.  Do not use in sheep less than 15 kg. Using the product in goat is prohibited.

Toxic effects on heart such as weakness in systolic phase and tachycardia has been reported.

Vomiting and death can be resulted because of poisoning. Do not use automatic syringes for injection of this drug. Inflammation in the site of injection may be observed that usually is mild and will recover gradually.

If injection is done to human suddenly, seek  physician advice immediately.
