Composition
Dexa Vet®
Each ml contains 2.63 mg Dexamethasone sodium phosphate equivalent 2 mg Dexamethasone.
Mechanism of Action:
Like other glucocorticoids, it inhibits accumulation of inflammatory cells such as macrophages and lymphocytes in inflammation site and also prevents phagocytosis and release of lysosomal enzymes. It decreases tissue reactions in inflammation process without effect on inflammation causes.
Main advantage of this drug as compared with betamethasone is its ability to pass from Blood Brain Barrier.
Indications of use
– Ketosis in cattle (acetonemia)
– Cases of shock and stress
– Non-infectious arthritis, tendonitis, osteoarthritis and tenosynovitis
– Vaginitis
– Bovine pulmonary emphysema syndrome
– Atypical bovine pneumonia
Dosage and route of administration
This drug is used through intramuscular, intravascular, subcutaneous and intracapsular routes.
Horse and cattle: 5 ml
Calf, sheep and goat: 1 – 2.5 ml
Dog: 0.25 -1 ml
Cat: 0.25 – 0.5 ml
Withdrawal Time
Meat: 3 days
Milk: 1 days
Precautions
Do not use this drug in infections without antibiotic. Do not use in the last three months of pregnancy because it increases dystocia and abortion probability.
Do not use this drug with other NSAIDs.
Storage conditions
Keep in 15 – 25 degrees Celsius and away from direct light.
