Composition

Tylosit®

Each sachet contains:

100 grams Tylosin tartrate

Mechanism of Action:

Tylosit® is a macrolide antibiotic which inhibits protein synthesis in bacteria and stops their growth, activity and multiplication, ending in their death. It is produced by Streptomyces fradiae. Tylosit® binds reversibly to 50s ribosomal subunit of bacteria and exerts its antibacterial activity.

Indications of use

Tylosit® has wide spectrum and specially is effective against gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus, Streptococcus and Corynebacterium. It is effective also against some gram negative bacteria such as Vibrio coli as well as some Spirochetes and big viruses. Tylosit is effective against many poultry Mycoplasmas specially M. gallisepticum (causing CRD), Mycobacteria, Clamidia and Rickettsia but has no effect on Protozoa and Fungi. Tylosit is used to treat systemic and local infections caused by bacteria sensitive to Tylosit® as well as in airsacs infections due to Mycoplasma synoviae, Mycoplasma gallisepticum (cause of infectious sinusitis in turkeys). It is also used to treat and control of bovine pneumoniae due to Mycoplasma and Pasteurella multocida.

Tylosit® has positive effect in reducing infection level after stress conditions such as live vaccine applications.

Dosage and route of administration

Broilers and pullets: For prevention of CRD and infections due to Mg and Ms: One sachet in 200 liters of lukewarm water for use in first 3 days of  life, repeat it for 24 hours at 4 weeks of age. For treatment, at onset of symptoms: Each sachet in 200 liters of drinking lukewarm water (0.5 gram/liter) for 48 hours or longer as ordered by veterinarian.

Turkeys: For prevention of Mycoplasma infections: Each sachet in 200 liters of lukewarm drinking water, For use in first 5 days of life and for 2 days at 4 weeks of age.

Young calves: For treatment of pneumonia due to Mycoplasma and Pasteurella: 1 gram Tylosit® per head by oral route (mixed in milk) twice daily for 7-14 days.

Storage conditions

In dry place and below 25° C (centigrade).

Withdrawal Time

1 day in broilers, 5 days in turkeys and 14 days in calves before slaughter. 2 days for table eggs.

Drug interactions:

Do not use with lincosamides, beta lactams and florfenicol simultaneously.

Precautions

Avoid skin contact with Tylosit®. Keep out of reach of children. Wash hands after use with water and soap. Do not use in layers during production.
