Product properties

Composition

Each ml contains 100 mg Erythromycin

Mechanism of Action:

Erythromycin is a macrolide and  bacteriostatic  antibiotic that reversibly binds to 50s

subunit of the ribosome and inhibits the protein synthesis and bacterial growth.

It is effective against gram positive cocci (staphylococcus and streptococcus, corynebacterium and listeria ), some heamophilus sp, pasteurella, brucella, ricketsia, treponema and mycoplasma.

Ecoli and Pseudomonas are resistant to this drug.

It is resorbed quickly and reaches maximum concentration in the blood in 1-2 hours and acts against erythromycin sensitive bacteria with effective concentration rapidly.

Indications of use

Erythromycin injectable solution is used for treatment of diseases caused by erythromycin sensitive bacteria.

Cattle: Treatment of respiratory disease(shipping fever, Pasteurellosis), pneumoenteritis complex, metritis, foot rot, subclinical and clinical mastitis.

sheep: Prevention of dysentery in new born lambs.

Treatment of upper respiratory diseases and agalactia.

Dosage and route of administration

Administer 4 ml/45 kg body weight once daily for up to 5 days as needed.

Deep intramuscular injection into the heavy neck muscles. In calves under 90 kg, deep intramuscular injection into the heavy muscles of the leg only. In animals weighing over 90kg, the neck region is the preferred site for deep intramuscular injection. No more than 10 ml should be injected at one site (in small calves under 90 kg, no more than

4 ml should be injected per site and then only in the heavy muscles of the leg).

Precautions

Swelling or soreness encountered at the site of injection is usually mild, transient and disappears in 2 to 4 days. Deep intramuscular injections will minimize the incidence of local soreness and swelling.

Withdrawal Time

Meat: 6 days

Milk: 72 hours

Storage conditions

Store at room temperature( 15-30°C). Protect from freezing.
