Each ml contains 50 mg of Enrofloxacin
Enrofloxacin belongs to the third generation of fluoroquinolones that inhibits DNA Gyrase
in the bacterial nucleus and it can cut DNA to small and inactive pieces.
Enrofloxacin inhibits DNA transcription and its bactericidal effects is revealed. Enrofloxacin is a broad spectrum antibiotic that affects on gram negative bacteria such as E.Coli, Klebsiella, Salmonella, Proteus, Campylobacter, Bordetella, Pasteurella, Haemophilus, Actinobacillus, Brucella and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Corynebacterium, Clostridium, Listeria monocytogenes, Truperella (Arcanobacterium) pyogenes, Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Mycoplasma and Chlamydia.
Minimum inhibitory concentration of this drug against these organisms is low. This charachteristic and special pharmacokinetic results in a more effective concentration in a short time. After injection of 2.5 mg/Kg body weight to calves, its concentration will reach to 0.9 mg/ml of blood serum within maximum one hour. Simultaneously its concentration in body tissues such as lungs, heart, liver, kidney and lymphatic system will be 2-3 times higher than in CSF. This drug is excreted through kidneys and other routes. 15-50% of the drug is excreted via urine without any molecular change (by tubular and glumerular filtration). The rest is excreted via faeces. Half life of this drug is 3 hours.
Cattle, sheep and goat: It is applied for treatment of secondary bacterial and mycoplasma infections of respiratory system (Mycoplasma, Pasteurella, Haemophilus and Staphylococcus) and digestive system infections (E.Coli and Salmonella) and also in treatment of Enzootic calf pneumonia.
