Each 1 ml contains 20 mg Tripelennamine HCl (equivalent to 17.5 mg Tripelennamine base).
Tripelennamine HCl is an ethylenediamine-derivative antihistamine (H1 receptor antagonist).
The body’s reaction to histamine is characterized by contraction of smooth muscle, signs of inflammation, constriction of vessels, and symptoms characteristic of shock.
Antihistamine (H1 receptor antagonist) competitively inhibits histamine binding at H1 receptor sites on sensitive cells in the respiratory tract, intestines, blood vessels, and skin.
It does not inactivate or prevent the release of histamine. It prevents the histamine action on the cell. When compared to other antihistamines, tripelennamine has minimal anticholinergic properties and is only moderately sedating.
Antihistamines are used to reduce or help to prevent histamine mediated adverse effects. Tripelennamine has been used as CNS stimulant in “Downer cows” when administered by slow IV route.
Cattle and horses: Anaphylactic shock, insect bites, food allergy, toxemia due to infectious or gastrointestinal diseases, itchy skin and hives.
Cats and dogs: Eczema, allergic conjunctivitis.
Cattle & Horses: 1 ml / 25 kg B.W. by I.M route.
Cats and dogs: 0.2 ml /5 kg B.W. by I.M route.
Treatment may be repeated in 6-12 hours if necessary.
Warm the solution near to the body temperature before administration.
Cattle: Meat: 2 days
Milk: 24 hours
Do not inject more than 10 ml in one injection site. Central nervous system stimulation in the form of hyper excitability, nervousness, and muscle tremors lasting up to 20 minutes have been noted in horses, particularly following I.V. route therefore only the intramuscular route should be used in horses.
Over-dosage may give rise to excitement, ataxia, and convulsions.
While poisonous snake bites have been treated with antihistaminic drugs, other conjunctive therapy is required because of toxic reactions associated with the protein complex of venom.
Store under 25°C. Protect from light and freezing.
